"10 BEST COMFORT FOODS- USA TODAY-PHILA TRAVEL GUIDE"

Grubhouse opened in 2013 on Passyunk Avenue in South Philly.  Serving breakfast and lunch, we offer unique twists on hearty comfort food.  Paired with our friendly service and laid-back environment, we have become a "go to" spot for brunchers-young and old-and a meeting hub for our up and coming West Passyunk Avenue neighborhood.  Our southern inspired fare, such as biscuits & gravy to chicken & waffles, keep our patrons coming back for more.  Thanks to countless write-ups in local, national and even international publications, we have gained notice and praise for our enticing menu items, particularily for those including bacon!  Our signature dish, the Grubhouse Baconcakes, was named Best of Philly in the category of Best Hangover Cure.  Having closed our original location, the next chapter in the life of Grubhouse begins in Spring 2018 as we open in the newly renovated Bourse Building on Independence mall. Alongside many other great shops & eateries, we will be introducing a BREAKFAST ALL DAY concept, along side rotating lunch & dinner specials true to our comfort food roots. In the meantime, were doing catering and off site pop up events, so follow us on social media for updates.

5 ALL-DAY BREAKFASTS IN PHILLY
Situated on an unlikely stretch of West Passyunk Avenue, this breakfast and lunch counter does a brisk business in pork-centric breakfasts.  Take the Terminegger, a long roll filled with bacon, eggs, cheese, smoked ham and jalapeno ketchup.  They also serve signature bacon studded pancakes with maple butter and a dusting of powdered sugar.

The seven-table-counter diner off Passyunk and 23rd is a bacon lover's heaven.  The GRUBHOUSE Bacon Cakes are fluffy pancakes with diced bacon cooked right into the batter, as well as highlighted by thick strips laid on top.  Its dusted with powdered sugar, so you get that sweet v. salty thing going.  This is not crisp bacon, as I generally prefer, but rather it's tender, almost like an improved version of corned beef hash.  Magnificent!

INTERNATIONAL BACON DAY!

In early 2013, Jim Lord took over a luncheonette in Deep South Philly and converted it into GRUBHOUSE.  The plan:  offer up satisfying, short-order-style food with twists not found anywhere else.  "We really want to put some crazy stuff on the menu" says Lord.  That includes bacon-centric options for days.  Big sellers include bacon-wrapped tater tots....
